Well, turn and move we find these acronyms on blogs, work emails or on social networks and today I'm going to help you decipher some of the most common ones.
We who work and spend a lot of time on the internet may come across some abbreviations that are not very common in writing, and I confess that even though I am an English teacher, I have already confused myself a lot with some of the terms used.

These abbreviations are increasingly used by new generations. That's why we always need to be on top of the news. With that in mind, I did some research on what some of them meant to try to understand what some people were trying to say in their messages on social media, I found the meanings and decided to publish them here to help you who, like me, need to learn to update themselves in this area.

AFK (Away From Keyboard) – Shows that the person is away from the keyboard, even online. BB (Bye Bye) - Bye. BRB (Be Right Back) – The popular “Já volto”. BF (Boyfriend or Best Friend) – Boyfriend or Best Friend. BTW (By The Way) – By the way. DIY (Do It Yourself) – Do it yourself. For example, a homemade remix of a famous song. FF (Follow Friday) – On Friday, indication to follow someone on Twitter. FYI (For Your Information) – For your information. GG (Good Game) – Used before the start of a game, or at the end. ICQ (I Seek You) – As in the chat program.
IDK (I Don't Know) – I don't know. I do not know. IMO (In My Opinion) – In my opinion. K (OK) – Short for “OK”, as if needed. LOL (Laughing Out Loud) – One of the most popular. It means to say that you are laughing out loud, laughing. LMAO (Laughing My Ass Off) - Laughing until he fell to the ground. OMG (Oh My Gosh!) – The popular “Oh My God”. PPL (People) – People. RIP (Rest In Peace) – Rest In Peace. Often used when someone famous dies. TNX or THX or 10x or TKS (Thanks) – Thank you. WTH(What The Hell) – What the hell! (Also translates to “what the hell”) XOXO – Hugs and kisses. YOLO (You Only Live Once) – You Only Live Once.
Remembering, that all these abbreviations are common in writing , whether in SMS, Chats or WhatsApp. Never use them when speaking or writing serious emails!
