10 Essential English Abbreviations

• ASAP - AS SOON AS POSSIBLE:This widely used abbreviation means "as soon as possible". It is used to express that something should be done as soon or as quickly as possible.
• BRB – BE RIGHT BACK:This abbreviation is particularly popular in the professional world. It signals that the conversation partner or chat partner is leaving the workplace for a moment and will be back shortly. It can be translated as "right back".
• N/A – NOT AVAILABLE / NOT APPLICABLE:You will find this expression mainly in forms. It is usually entered there if no entry can be made in a field or if this is not applicable. The translation is: "Not available" / "Not applicable".
• AKA – ALSO KNOWN AS:Translated into German, these three letters mean “Also known as”. They are used to talk about a person who is known by another name in addition to their real name.
